In addition to typical laboratories like LabCorp, BioReference, and Quest Diagnostics, Dr. Linda Tao refers to various specialty laboratories that provide the most accurate results to optimize your individualized-treatment.

Labrix

We use Labrix’s Salivary Hormone Testing to measure bioavailable hormone levels in the body, as opposed to bound hormones found in blood serum.

MDL

MDL utilizes molecular techniques to provide clinicians with results that help with the treatment of bacterial, viral, and fungal infections.

Doctor’s Data Inc. (DDI)

Doctor’s Data Inc. (DDI) offers a urine analysis to evaluate an individual’s exposure to potentially toxic elements. Subsequent analysis following a chelator helps clinicians monitor the efficacy of the chelation therapy.

Cleveland HeartLab (CHL)

Cleveland HeartLab (CHL) offers advanced inflammatory biomarker testing that help predict the risk of cardiovascular disease. Their comprehensive testing menu aids clinicians in identifying risk and reducing cardiovascular events.

Commonwealth Diagnostics International (CDI)

CDI offers hydrogen and methane breath tests for SIBO to non-invasively diagnose SIBO patients. This test allows patients to perform the procedure at the comfort of his/her own home.

Genova Diagnostics

CDSA 2.0

Genova offers an advanced stool test that offers accurate results pertaining to the management of gastrointestinal health. The biomarkers targeted in this test provides valuable information regarding three main areas of gastrointestinal function: digestion, inflammation, and the gut microbiome.

ION Profile

This nutritional analysis uses both blood and urine samples to measure over 125 key nutrient biomarkers and ratios that help clinicians investigate the possible root cause of complex chronic conditions.

Laboratory Testing FAQs

Q: What is conventional lab testing?

A: Conventional labs are those that you are likely already familiar with. These are the labs such as thyroid testing, liver function testing, and lipid panels, to name a few.

Q: I heard Dr. Tao orders lots of labs. Why is that?

A: Dr. Tao is different than your conventional doctor in that she orders Functional Medicine lab tests and interprets them differently than a conventional doctor would. She listens to your symptoms while looking at optimal levels rather than normal ranges.

Q: Will my insurance cover the costs of these lab tests?

A: Our practice orders high-quality, cutting-edge functional lab tests in order to obtain accurate information about how your body is working and to uncover the root cause of your illness. Most of the lab work that Dr. Tao orders is covered by insurance, although, some may not be. Please contact your insurance provider prior to completing any lab tests if you would like to inquire about coverage. Certain plans, like Medicaid, will not cover the costs of tests ordered by providers who are out-of-network (ie Dr. Linda Tao). At checkout, we will provide you with the necessary paperwork and codes in order for you to file for reimbursement from your insurance provider.  You may also use funds from a Health Savings Account (HSA) or Flexible Spending Account (FSA) to cover the costs of these tests.
